Next generation "non fluoropolymer" grades: hard type non-stick coating

At Nippon Fusso, we provide fluoropolymer coating for various manufacturing equipments such as rolls, tanks, and pipes. Fluoropolymer contains excellent characteristics including water repellency, anti-corrosion, and non-stick. This means that manufacturing equipments with fluoropolymer coating can improve product yield, lower cost and reduce environmental burden. While it does provide these benefits, fluoropolymer coating is also known for the problems it can cause. First, from a materials aspect, fluoropolymer is known for its softness. For example, at some manufacturing site, fluoropolymer coating film might be abraded by frictional wear in short time. We have changed our coating technology to this, but it is a fact that as long as fluoropolymer is used, this issue cannot be dramatically improved.

And from an application perspective, sometimes the fact that fluoropolymer coating requires high temperature processing and shot blasts is seen as a problem. For example, there are various concerns about how softening or melting of low melting substrates may cause distortion of substrate which requires high mechanical precision, and fluoropolymer coating is not usually implemented for these.

In order to find solutions for these and other problems, Nippon Fusso has taken the approach of using materials other than fluoropolymer, and have developed "Aμcoat® (pronounced "ay-mew-coat")"*, with hardness and a non-blasted surface, as well as high non-stick property
